Living in a Bubble
Today I headed out with my hubby Tyson to pick up some supplies then off to the studio. I have orders to work on and Tyson is working on a pillow project using digitally printed fabric of his illustrations (via Spoonflower, check them out). People often ask me how many days I work since I started my line….
Answer: every day. If I’m awake I’m usually working. The kids in Bagad, India are always working too. The main difference is that I’m CHOOSING to do this with my life, they’re not. They deserve to be in school, learning and dreaming about what they want to do when they grow up. A little tidbit to think about while pondering how the heck I turned my dress into a top…I know this must be at the forefront of all your minds (I jest….go donate then come back and read how I did it!)
So simple! I undid the bottom buttons up to the waist, looped it over my head then did up the bottom button to create a sort of bubbled halter effect. I’m wearing a full bodysuit with short sleeves, denim shorts and blackΒ army boots. The chunky gold necklace is one of my vintage favorites, a staple in my wardrobe.

Are you walking around with it like this?
What is the reaction? Be honest. If you are honest, I will donate some money.

Hi Angie. I really loved what you did with the dress, you are very creative!!! Keep up with the good work!!

Very creative and definitely gives you an interesting silhouette to look at (like most of your days so far) – which is really nice π Only thing I’m hesitant on is having seams/hem exposed. You have so many great ideas though! Have you thought about doing a longer skirt over the dress?

I gotta say I liked yesterday’s a little better… But keep coming up with different ways of wearing teh dress. It makes things exciting. And I’m so excited to see a fellow Montrealer as a pilot!

Amie – Absolutely! Here are the places I’ve gone so far today:
– trim supplier, bought elastic
– fabric supplier, bought fabric for hubbys pillows,
– back to the studio, worked on orders, hung out with hubbie and studio mates Marc & Yana
– just got home, took the dogs for a walk and picked up some groceries. Ran into my brother, ran into our neighbour walking her dog.
Didn’t get any strange looks, actually got compliments from my studio mate and neighbour!
Time to donate my friend! π

Hmmmm – not sure this is something I like – kudos for originality, but not sure if it is a practical for as your others have been π

Christina – RE the hems/seams: the bottom hem actually folds into itself quite nicely, but yes the front placket is exposed at the front body. It doesn’t bother me, but that’s definitely a personal preference and not for everyone π
Emmerelda – absolutely will, I know that not everything I wear will be liked by everyone on every day…I’d have to be wearing something pretty bland for that to happen…and then…well I probably wouldn’t like it myself!
Thanks for the ongoing comments!

Oh also it should be noted that in the first pic my thumb is in the hem and is kind of pulling it out, the other pics are probably a better indication of the actual poof level!

You are my favorite thus far… I also love the various poses so we can see the outfit from different perspectives!!

Angie, I have enjoyed every day so far — and promise to make a donation by the end of the month. Which version of the dress have you been wearing? Silk or cotton knit?
A long time ago
ok… i am in love with this dress!!!! what seemed like it was going to be the least versatile dress has shown to be the most by far!!!

You are my hero. That’s it.

Hey Angie!
I’m sooooo excited about you being a Montrealer. I could just run into you in the street!! Even though I loved Isis’s month, I must admit your my favorite so far because your style looks kinda like mine- except waaaay better. You inspire me a lot! Keep up the good work!

I’m still picking up my jaw from yesterday. Now it’s down again. So ditto @scary. & @Tara. Love how you take us into Bagad.

So tonight I’m wearing a longish blackish button-front dress, and I did the thing you did the other day of ubuttoning and wrapping it around back. It’s amazing! Thanks for the inspiration. I might even get brave enough to try today’s look with it some day. You’re muy creative and so beautiful.

Now that is a way to modify the dress that I hadn’t anticipated. I’m not sure I’m feeling it with the denim shorts, but I really liked the way the sweater looked layered over it. Very cool idea! Loving how different you’ve made the dress so far.

I absolutely love this! How cool would it be to have a dress like this with funky hem-tape or ribbon on the underside seams for times like these! You just amaze me with your ideas! Keep it up! I’m donating right now!

I love the silhouettes you’re creating with the dress. I wasn’t so sure about it the first day but your creativity with it is astounding. Great job thus far π

I think you look gorgeous. Haters are just jealous that they could never OWN IT like you do.
Your style is fresh and interesting and always surprising and that’s what fashion should be. It doesn’t have to always be something that each of us wants to wear ourselves but should inspire each of us to take risks and explore our own style. You’ve packed a lot of the latter into one short week Angie. Thanks.

Judith – I’m still wearing the silk one, should be receiving the jersey/knit one this week though, I’ll def. let you guys know when I switch it up!
Farmer Beth – Yes! So glad you tried it out!

WOW – you are so creative to come up with all these ways to wear the Uniform!! I can’t wait to see how you “play” with it the remaining 24 days!
