Day 4

Tangled up in Blue

It’s drizzly and dreary today so I was happy to pull on this lovely recycled sweater cardigan by Canadian brand Preloved. They are doing anย exclusive collection for eBayย this month and were kind enough to donate it to U.P for me to test drive and I will attest to its incredible cozyness. Cardigans are a wardrobe staple for me, I love them all. Layering is so key for staying warm on the way to work, then being able to de-layer when the indoor heat is cranked. Oh the joys of working in a 1960s industrial building with no control over the heat…

Today I wore the dress with the buttons to the front and undid the bottom 7 buttons then tied a little knot at the front hem of the skirt. This kept the skirt longish, altered the silhouette a bit and keeps the hem out of puddles. I thought this length would look best with these new grey knee high boots I bought myself last month. I always need a bit of colour in my outfits so I threw on one of my favorite vintage beaded necklaces as well.

I’m happy to see the donations keep coming in, spread the word friends!

Ps. Isis’ LBD from last month isย now on sale >

That’s really cool! Do you mind if I ask how tall you are? It just gives a sense of scale (although Isis last month completely blew our minds!)

I’m about 5’4″ – 5’5″ ….never really know exactly! ๐Ÿ™‚

Wow– The more I see of this one, the more I hope the dress will be for sale. Brava!

I want this dress tagged this F’excellent!

I LOVE how you are working with the dress itself and acting (temporary) changes upon it’s structure, as well as experimenting with layers. It’s cool how the dress is not just this static piece.
GENIUS!

Unfortunately, the dress makes her legs seem a little short. Still, it has your mark on it, and it’s a nice style for those who could pull off the sweater.

I know you have style, so put a bit more into it. ๐Ÿ˜€ You’ll have it then.

This outfit is so cute! I love how you tied the dress in the front to give a new look. Thanks for doing this for U.P. ๐Ÿ™‚

BDM – Actually my legs look short because they’re actually super short, and a little bit chunky. Just the way I was made. I blame my father, he has short legs too…

In general I don’t dress to try to look skinny/taller/prettier/etc….I dress to express myself and wear something that I think is unusual and a bit interesting…hope that makes sense!

I like the things you are doing with the hemline by changing up the button situation. I’ve also thought of doing longer dresses/skirts with little ties on the inside that can pull/rutch it up from the inside. Still haven’t gotten around to trying that.

Well said Angie. For a sec there even my mind went to ‘umm doesn’t that cut your legs short.’. But you’re right, we’re always looking to follow the rules to lengthen our legs, shrink our waistline , appear taller, flatter, bustier – perfect. And tend to lose originality and personality in between all those rules. Thank you for your thoughts!

angie, thank you so much for that response. i don’t even stand 5 feet tall & i love my many curves. the basic measurements of my body just aren’t a secret & there are no clothes that could make me look tall & skinny. there are, however, lots of clothes that make me feel confident, pretty, and self expressed. that’s one of the purposes of the UP-LBD, right?

1) I absolutely love your style. Of all the pilots so far, I think you have the best style, and I think the most wearable/down-to-earth style that’s totally doable. It’s also closer to what I personally wear, so I love it and it’s giving me inspiration! 2) I love that you take the time to read and respond to the posts. You are doing an excellent job!!

Personally, I think your legs look long and lovely, even though they are obscured by the dress. Which is by far the most versatile one yet, or so you make it seem. I love it and you and your style! Mad props, Angie.

i’m not loving the way you’ve tied the dress, but, that’s a personal thing. I am however loving the cardigan, those boots, that necklace and your attitude. ๐Ÿ™‚

noa tagged this downside of a lbd [L is for long this time]: the bottom probably drags in puddles?

hmmm… gray/blue is a color usually associated with dullness and boredom, but this outfit doesn’t have any of those qualities!
