Day 3

Ruffles & Polka Dots

Today is a gorgeous sunny day in Montreal so I thought I’d take advantage of the weather and play with making the dress short. I created this drapy effect by wearing the button side to the front then undoing the lower buttons 2/3 of the way up. I then took the bottom edges of the dress, lifted them up, crossed them and wrapped them around to my lower back. I then re-buttoned the bottom button at the small of my back. Voila! Instant volume, shorter length!

I layered one of my own designs under the dress (theΒ Trench Blouse), leggings from Zara (5 yrs old), a vintage leather belt and vintage polka dot peplum blazer. Cognac coloured boots tie in the belt, and polka dot nails finish things off! No such thing as too many polka dots.

I was so happy to see so many friends and family donate to Free the Children yesterday, thank you to everyone! U.P has made it really easy to donate, if you have a credit card or Paypal it takes about 2 seconds…do it!

You’re so awesome! I think I’m developing a little crush on you (but only because I want to steal your nail stamp kit!). I love this silhouette.

Fantastic! Love the “bubble effect” of pulling up and wrapping. Hope to see more of that too.

Wow! I am loving where this is going.
I love that this project not only keeps me inspired to change up my wardrobe, but also keeps me informed of these great charities. I love the things Craig Kielberger has been doing with FTC.
Keep it up!

Wow – you managed to get two looks in one day. With and without the jacket are very different in good ways. This is going to be a good month I think.

Really awesome look today, this dress is so versatile, I would never have thought that it would transform itself into such a nice short dress!
Your nails are an inspiration for tomorrow, and I just want to add that donating it’s so easy, I just thought of that one coffee you mentioned the other day and was happy to do it (and will make another one before your pilot is over).
Wish you all the best with your cause!
