Reykjavik.
Here in the smokey bay, glad to see my sister and family again. It’s chillier here, so I’ve busted out the coat and scarf. The denim coat (like the boots before) was a street find, so it’s nice and worn in. The scarf is a fabric sample of my dad’s. The tights are vintage. The shoes you have already seen and will probably see more of for the rest of the month. I like to wear the same pair usually until death do we part, but will try and mix it up for the project as not to bore you. These shoes in particular are mismatched not for the sole reason of style, a friend of mine and I switched a shoe for a shoe at the start of the summer since we are the same size. The pom poms and embroidery were our add ons. They are extremely comfortable and always perfect for the summer. The bat glows in the dark and the pin is from the school I just graduated, its in the west village, its the best! I am standing at the port about 2 blocks from where we are staying in Reykjavik, maybe tomorrow we will try and get a shot with the mountain in the background!

Oh, India, you are ADORABLE. This outfit reminds me so much of “home” for some reason – I suppose because I’m also from a more northerly place where it’s chilly more often. These well-worn denim jackets are a godsend on those days! (Too warm for a winter coat or sweater, too cool for a t-shirt.) I love the bat you stitched onto the back of the jacket, and vintage tights are totally love! <3

i have no idea where to start because i love All Of It, hmm… ok, that jacket, it looks so… homey, maybe? either way, really cute! the tights are just, wow, just wow. and those shoes, they are my favorite thing you’ve worn so far, tied with, actually, most of the other things you’ve worn… anyways, i love the whole outfit! iceland looks beautiful (though i have never been there) and i hope you have a great time with your family!

Tried to add the new site as an RSS Feed but the link seems to be broken. I think it will be advantageous to brave India and her cause if this problem can be fixed!

I am so glad you are taking on this challenge. You are quite beautiful and your dress is apparently quite adaptable. I look forward to seeing it for the next few weeks.

very excellent post; looks like you are hitting your stride. great story to match your photos today. Alas, I am a 4.5 shoe; not many people to swap with except 11 year olds, and I don’t really want to go there!

Great looks, India! And welcome back, UP! This is a great idea, and I’m looking forward to each month.
I hope that some of your pilots will be more round than India. I am not complaining about you, my dear–you are absolutely lovely and perfect–but I sure would like to see some people who are shaped a bit more like me rock a LBD with style.
You’re really creative, India–looking forward to your ideas.

Back Again. I can’t wait until I have a chance to read the Our School blog. Go to the Cause page (see top of page here) and click on the blog. What a GREAT project! I’m so glad to know that people are doing things like this.

You are adorable, India. The twist in the socks make them so special. Can’t wait to use that way myself.

love the shoes: fun, stylish, unique…i wonder if there isn’t some sort of quantum entanglement…do you ever feel like you can feel your friend walking? Now you know what its like to walk in her shoe.

I’m pretty excited about this new project! Your personality keeps coming out more and more everyday, so keep it up! X

Maybe I don’t get this right since everybody sounds as excited by India as by Sheena. With me, I’m kind of dissappointed. I don’t want to be rude, but this is the way I feel.
I do the same thing as always, each day I look up the new posting, eager to see a totally individual and different look, wanting to be inspired by this unaffected cool hand-me down girl as announced. I’m not disliking her style but expected more variety. The shoes for example are great. Gimme more of this!

…But maybe I have to see this Pilot differently. I see that India is beeing herself and I totally want that, but could you try a bit harder to give us fans something to look forward to, a spark of the inspiring fire Sheena gave us all? I think you can do it, I’ve seen you on Stile like u, you are this cool girl who makes “garbage” into fashion. Show me!

Love the mismatched shoes. I did this with my little sister last summer and got such laughs trying to walk in one of each other’s shoes.

Just fab and I love the shoe swap idea. My hippy/feral friend Sharron only wears found/gifted gear. I got a great pair of vintage cuban heel riding boots from her. Love the scarf, have fun
