Day 3

Ride Me High

AUS > LGA and I feel like reppin’ the Southwest. So I nicked myย Dad’s old Levi’s jean jacketย and kinda folded it up to be a bit structured. I’ve never done this collar technique before and I like it. I am a big fan of denim to fly in. I have a confession, this is not my real suitcase. But if it didn’t have a guitar that it belonged too it totally would be. Mine is actually an American Tourister, circa 1975 that I found on a Williamsburg sidewalk a while ago. But this just seemed so much more romantic, like I’m Bob Dylan.

I’ve had a long standing desire to illustrate a ‘People Watcher’s Guide” to major airports. It would contain people to spot and check off like “sockless loafers @ Charles de Gaulle.”

Have any airport people to add to my guide? I may just draw one for ya! xx.wasabipear

***Today’s Outfit: LBD worn zip front. Dad’s old denim. My old denim. Fake animal headband from HS. Vintage fringed spikes from Savannah.

How about the “Crazy Bluetooth Guy”? You know him… the one you thought was talking to himself but was really just yelling loudly into his bluetooth”? BTW those jeans look good bunched up around the boots.

The Cath Kidston brigade, to be found at major british and japanese airports. Watch out for travel bags that match wallets that match passport covers that match luggage tags that match outfits!

I’m sure Bob Dylan hitch-hiked his way across the country on countless occasions and here you are most definitely channeling that rugged and road weary american hero. Stick that thumb out and let em know where yer headed.

Well, of course you need to look for a Packer sweatshirt with track pants and a mullet at Mitchel Int’l in Milwaukee.

Denim on denim again! You UP ladies are just too cool for school. I love it. I love the headband, it’s so much fun! I also love that you have sponsors…look at those numbers go! So we need to raise 9,600? Let’s get the word out there, then.

And let’s not forget ‘The Sniffing Guy of San Jose’ – who is always going to sit right behind you, and appears to have forgotten to pack his hanky.

Great outfit today ๐Ÿ™‚ Love the repeating theme of belt and hairband.

noa tagged this What about “Strictly Business,” you know, the guy walking purposefully through the airost of an explicitly touristy city in a nicely tailored suit, talking to his boss on his blackberry while balancing his briefcase and expensive rolling suitcase.

today, my english teacher told us that instead of a new year’s resolution, she, inspired by a friend who does this every year, was going to come up with one word to (hopefully) define the upcoming year. you can pepper your vocabulary with it, use it as a mantra, a wish, just keep it in the back of your head. this outfit definitely says “purposeful traveler.”

Hunky Italian guy waiting for his gal at arrivals. You’ll know him by his tight black shirt and designer jeans. He’ll seem very concerned about the late arrivals but will be checking out other hotties and making eye contact to make sure you notice him. All eye contact will cease upon arrival of said girlfriend.

Love the shoes!! What about the “Clueless Traveler” – the one who never knows you’re supposed to put EVERYTHING through xray, continuously beeps, doesn’t know where his gate is, stumbles around under grocery bags doubling as carry-ons, holds up the aisle on the plane looking for his book/pillow/headphones!

For resolutions: My friends & I are with @Darcey – we do a ceremony each year on the roof of a DC apt building… Write down what you want to get ride of from previous year (written on paper made of elephant poop, of course), burn it in a silver cauldron. Write down on recycled paper what you want to embrace for the new year. Save it & review throughout year. It’s fun! Though I forget every year what I wrote ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh and there is “Too much carry on luggage guy”, who is nearly bursting a vein trying to cram his clearly overweight luggage into the overhead compartment while taking up the whole isle so that no one else can board until the very irritated flight attendant explains that the luggage should have been checked on and it will have to be stowed up front. Hate those people, their luggage should just be thrown off the plane!

Ooh ooh what about the TRAVELING TRAVELLER. They enjoy taking short strolls through the crowded aisles and observing people, while touching every seat they pass. And the ENDLESS-PEE GUY/GIRL, who needs to pee at least 3 times in a 45 minute flight.

Brilliant idea, but this is too short for me – something suitable for a 60+ year old woman Jacky webb

very cute and very Austin! I love the Austin airport…worth leaving early for! I love the versatility of this dress and hope you sell a pattern for it! I would make the skirt a bit longer as well, but I’d add about 2-3 inches instead of 1.

What a fun travel outfit! I HATE seeing people shlep around the airport in their sweats and pajamas! People should wonder who you are, where you are coming from, and where you are going! I am sure you have accomplished this!
