Day 2

The First Day of the Rest of Your Life

This is my last day in Austin. Tomorrow I pack my bags and head back to NYC. I don’t want to go which is odd because usually when I leave the city I’m dying to come back. Have I fallen out of love? We shall soon find out…

I woke up this morning thinking about resolutions and how I never make them. But I’m starting to think my “too cool for resolution” mentality is a mistake. I asked my friend whether he had one and he just said “to keep getting better.” I concur.

How about you guys? Resolution: yes or no? xx.wasabipear

Today’s Outfit: LBD worn as a shell and a skirt, Ethiopian white linen dress with green and gold embroidery, Jesus sandals, Ethiopian cross.

I love the versatility of the dress! Looks so different but just as good as what you had on yesterday.

Imagine a figure of light, an ethereal being from another time. Count it down backwards to the beginning of yourself. The beginning of this year brings the new light that emanates from within us and guides us down a grassy path. While in the darkness, the lingering shadow of the earth reminds us of our mortality; each footstep inching us closer to some form some kind of reality.

Very clever design! Especially for a project like this – your options are quadrupled! I’m excited about your cause and what you will do with the month. Winter fashion is tough but lucky girl you get to be in NYC where the sky is the limit! I love the details in the Ethiopian dress and how you’ve made it more modern with the skirt. Great stuff.

love this already! a question – will the funds raised total in the corner reflect the donations only, or does it also include the donor matching?

Your hair is longer! I love it :). I hope this month goes by slowly, because I know I’m going to be savoring every one of your outfits!

@anonymous, the numbers above include the sponsor’s match so its the total.

That is a BEAUTIFUL Ethiopian dress, but I have to say, the skirt on top kind of ruins it. However, I’m still looking forward to your dailies!

Beautiful outfit! I also love the versatility of this month’s LBD. Congratulations on finding sponsors to match the donations. Excellent idea! I will be donating this month for sure.

I’m one of those who asked for something more business-friendly, though I would have to go longer… Can’t wait to see what you do this month.
What’s the origin of “wasabipear”?!

wasabipear tagged this Hi @Wendie

I agree with you about the length. We had one sample made for these couple days that I’m in Texas and we’re having the other two made after I get back to the city. I asked Sarah (the designer) to add 1″ to the length. Let’s see! More about the origin of wasabipear soon to come ^.~

Jess – i can’t believe this is only the second day and you’ve already shown us such great versatility. On the subject of resolutions: it’s the overused cliche of it that is lame not the act of commitment to something that you believe in. You’ve already showed us that you can do that (in more ways than one). Try re-naming this begining of the year ritual instead. I like to think of it as a commitment ceremony to myself and the abundance in life I deserve. It just happens sometimes on Jan.1.

Love this version of the LBD. I too have hoped for a more business inspired dress. I really hope that a pattern for this version will be available. I bet you’d sell a boatload.
