Day 24

Caped Crusader

It’s really beginning to get chilly here in Montreal so I thought today would be the perfect day to wear this AMAZING reversible cape theΒ eBay Green TeamΒ sent me for the month. This cape somehow makes it socially acceptable to basically walk around wearing a blanket….and it’s reversible! I wore it with the plaid side out, today my outfit seems to be all about mixing patterns. I started with black and white patterned leggings of my own design, over the knee socks and brown boots. Over that I put on a dress I’ve had for about 6 years and a 1940s bakelite necklace I picked up at a garage sale about 2 yrs ago. Today I wore the dress as a bit of a vest/peplum hybrid. I undid the buttons of the bodice, leaving the skirt portion closed. Then I slipped my arms in the sleeves, creating a sort of vest effect with the rest of the skirt hanging down the back of my legs. I then grabbled the hem at the sides, folded it under and tied it at my waist. I added a black fabric sash of my own to tie it in at my waist. Yes, I realize this is very hard to picture! We’re hoping to put together a video so all these dress wearing options are clear, stay tuned! If you haven’t done it yet,Β today is the day to donate!

Love the tights, but not so sure about the socks over the top. Well done though!

This look for the dress reminds me a bit of some of the harnesses you have in your Etsy shop. Fun look.

This outfit looks awful. Over the top – Colours+Patterns clash

definitely not boring. il like your creativity – it brings no perfection but interesting and surprising outfits – more than this, your looks are statements

Very creative, again! The cape looks cozy but in my opinion too big for your silhouette. Don’t like the overknees, must be the colour and texture, but looove the vest-dress over the niiice vintage dress.

LOVE how you altered the shape of the dress today. Looks awesome and not bulky at all! I like knee-highs on tights. Cape is a little too ‘technicolor dreamcoat’ for my personal taste, but hey, a girl’s gotta keep warm πŸ˜‰

I love how you continue to transform the dress by tying and buttoning it different ways. At the beginning of the month I was a little skeptical of the long dress, but my opinion has completely turned around. It rocks.

Olivia – Wow, it is SOOOO nice to wake up and read that someone thinks you look horrendous. I’m so happy you felt it was really necessary to write that. You must be a really kind person.

This project is about making a difference in childrens lives, let’s try to stay positive, shall we?

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it yet, but I REALLY want this dress! It just seems perfect in too many ways.

I think this project is about fashion first and foremost. At least it is for me. I think it isn’t ‘necessary’ to chastise your readers, even if they make negative comments…anyways, that was probably the first negative word this month, so let’s leave it, you are doing great

I actually really love the over-layering of this look! The cape makes it! Very creative and you’re probably not worrying about getting cold in this outfit! πŸ™‚ Brave look! It works! πŸ™‚

ZS – This project is actually about raising awareness about the poverty and skewed distribution of resources around the world. This project is NOT about fashion first and foremost, the point is to make people think about what they can do with what they already have. North American society is obsessed with consuming for the sake of consuming. This project aims to open peoples eyes. I’m not against constructive criticism…constructive being the key word. Hope this helps clear things up!

I love checking back everyday just to see how you wore the dress. I love how versatile it is and I am seriously jealous of that cape.

You know, I wish people would think before posting negative comments, “Would I be prepared to say this to their face?” If not, think harder about what you want to write. And if you *would* be prepared to tell a stranger to their face that their outfit was horrendous … I’d say you’ve got some work to do. You don’t have to like it, but you don’t have to be nasty about it. Angie, you’re doing a remarkable job.
