Day 11

Pretty in Pink...or is it more of a Coral?

It’s another sunny day so I was in the mood for fun & colourful. I’ve been collecting vintage slips since I was 13 and this is one of my best finds. I put the dress on with the buttons to the back, unbuttoned the bottom half then brought the tips to the front of my body, closed the bottom button & put it over my shoulder. The vintage belt is pretty key to create this look, or it would just keep falling off my shoulder. I amped up the girliness with floral tights, some chunky cream socks and my current fave boots (I’ve worn them so much already!) A friend of mine is having her CD launch party tonight & I don’t have time to change before going so I thought this would be a fun outfit…easy to work in, transitions to fun art party/CD launch vibe.

Today is Remembrance Day in Canada, lot of thoughts of personal sacrifice on the brain….it makes you think about what you’re REALLY willing to do to help others…go to war…..give money….build a school…what can YOU do? What WILL you do?

ok, i’m super confused right now…
HOW DO YOU DO THIS??? every day you come up with new and unthinkably creative ways to wear this one dress, and every day i see it and i’m like, “ok, well, nothing can beat this,” and then the next day it repeats…

Annika – I wore a cardigan and jacket on the way to the studio but it’s SO HOT in here today, with the sun shining and the heat on (1960s industrial building and we don’t control the heat, it’s always blasting!) I’m actually STILL too hot!!

I must have looked like an idiot in my living room reading your description and pantomiming how on earth you wrapped the dress like this. I love the asymmetric look. But I’m still curious about how the back looks many of these days. Can you photograph that sometimes too? Pretty please!

Really impressed so far, that dress is incredibly versatile and your creativity is boundless. However, I read about the dress design and was wondering about the two different types of fabrics used for your dress — have you been alternating between the woven and knit fabric dresses thus far or have you just worn one of them? Maybe I missed something in your descriptions….

Amy – I’m still working with the silk dress, the jersey dress is being created and will be in my hands soon…I’m excited to play with it and see the difference in what I can do!

I’ve taken inspiration from the LBD project and vowed not to purchase clothes for 6 months and only use what I have in my closet. It’s an interesting challenge and I’m re-discovering items that I had forgotten about. Thank you to all of the Pilots for teaching me to think differently!!

Adsieg – That’s so great! Even in the short time I’ve done this challenge it’s been great to see how far I can go with my wardrobe. Have fun with it!
