An Ode to Japan, Life in Perspective
I find it important to be serious about your work but not to take things too seriously. Perhaps that’s what I was thinking when I put this outfit together.
But truly, how many of us get snagged on life’s little thorns and lose track of the greater vision, the greater opportunity before us? We need room to breath, to create, to live, to give, to love…not sweating the small stuff…Focus on what really matters.
My heart goes out to all those people in Japan. The images are sweepingly tragic. My cousin was stationed there. He’s O.K. But I spent the early morning waking up everyone in San Francisco about the tsunami warning for the West Coast. I didn’t one up all the moms though, who had already called their sons and daughters at least fifteen minutes before. My other friend – Joel – said I could warn him about potential doom 24/7. Good to know no one was sour about the early AM calls and texts.
The outfit: Buttoned and bubbled LBD; silk ascot blouse handmade by Pakistani women from a previous brand called Ethika; tights and striped stockings (Stockingirl) – Harajuku-style – ode to Japan; kimono flats by Christian Siriano for Payless.
P.S. Thank you all for giving and Payless’ matching donation. We surpassed $1K. $2K more will build one Uniform Project well, and $4500 will build two wells. Think we can do it as a community?

Your hair is the most intriguing thing to me today. I want a full head shot. how did you do that? I think i agree with Clarity, the simplicity of color is striking. and the bow around your neck is envious.
Congratulations on breaking $1,000!

We’re all commenting on you hair-do today! What fun. I like the picture of the bottom of your dress with the cute tights. It would be fun to print it, & cut it out and put it into a collage. Floating to the ceiling of the sky!

This one is really bold. I’ve been busy so I missed a bunch of days, but I just went back thru. This one is striking. It’s the leggings and all the black, tho the Lady in Red is a strong competitor.
