Day 10

Twinkle, twinkle little star...

Ah the suspense! (or is it the suspenders)?

Do you think we may be able to reach $1,000 by the end of the day today? Whad’ya think Uniform Projecteers? Can we do it? Can we do it?

We have over $740 pledged and since Payless is matching dollar-for-dollar, it means that <$130 will get us there. Then we’d be 1/5th away from building a Uniform Project well. (Fingers and long toes crossed).

I’m not sure how to classify the outfit that I put together on this rainy day.  Perhaps theatre sheik meets Lion Tamer? Maybe you guys have a more creative or applicable description – but let’s just say I was in pursuit of a turban for the past year and you probably never thought a grown woman could wear bloomers, but hey, Go Bloomers and you Don’t Go Back.

So here it all is in a nutshell: Vintage Bloomers (Shrinkle); recycled PET bolero (Prophetik); vintage belt (Fluke); handmade suspenders by I Love Lowie; vintage turban that I picked up somewhere in the East End of London on my last trip; funky candy-striped pumps by Isabel Toledo for Payless; and tagua nut jewelry (Palma Collection).

Photo compliments of Tara St. James in her new studio…Loving the twinkle lights!

This outfit is just too much (in a good way). The turban! The suspenders! That frilly pink umbrella!!! Incredible.

I don’t know how you managed to get the turban into this look, but it works. I’d dub this… sartorial gypsy chic!

You are full of surprises. The turban looks great, as do the suspenders/umbrella/shoes. Wouldn’t think it was the same dress. And the light bulbs!!!!!!!! Here’s to a very creative you!

P.S. Wanted to tell you that I have tagua nut things as well. A multi colored bracelet, and an adorable carved pony. Again, love today’s look, bloomers and all!

I was in awe of this installation when i saw it Tara’s but now i’m just speechless! No one can make “over the top” so approachable. I dig it.

BTW Ruby the link to Summer’s amazing shoes are up above in her post, “Isabel Toledo for Payless”. great, huh?

Yes – those versions of the Isabel Toledo shoes for Payless will be out very soon. In the meantime, others are available on the site. Aren’t they Fab (with a capital F)?

Che – thanks SO MUCH for supporting the project. Glad you are loving the month. Trying to make it worth the donation!

I dream of Jeannie, that’s what this reminds me of. And how I loved the series when I was a child. 🙂
