Day 3

Dear Yoko Ono

I felt like my look today was very Yoko driven. Remember what she looked like the day she married John Lennon? Well if you don’t, you should google it. Today I just have to work and run some errands and you know I’m not trying to waste a good outfit on a “whatever” day but… whatever. The problem with me being in LA and the rest of the Uniform Project team being in NYC is that is was hard to get the fit right for this dress. Right now it’s a little too short and the material is just killing me. The denim looks cute but it’s a bit too heavy, especially for me to wear every single day. Hopefully when I get back home (next week) we’ll be able to make some adjustments. In the meantime I’m wearing a little American Apparel mini skirt underneath, my bright red knee high socks are from… The Sock Man I believe (located on St. Marks) and my awesome sun hat I got from this really overpriced boutique on Ludlow Street that I forget the name of. I never wear hats but I “needed this.” My shoes are those German sandals that I got in Williamsburg. I can’t tell you what brand they are because I’ve worn them so much that the print on the sole has rubbed off.

The combo is just great! My guess for the shoes is on Birkentstock’s or Dr. Scholl’s…

Loved the insight into how you feel about dress. This is a hard project and I respect anyone attempting it.

good mark for effort! i.e trying to fit something under the dress – practically impossible and visually doens’t ad much in my opinion from looking at the pic – the socks are so funky and though I hate hate those horrid german sandals they’re oozing style with the red socks – I want it all..NOW!!!!..please ..

Such a great outfit! I’m love the red/black/white color combination, and love the miniskirt underneath to add just that extra inch for comfort.

No, I don’t think the skirt’s too short, especially not on you. And if the fabric is uncomfortable, you’re wearing it like it’s the most natural thing. Love the socks and hat, and the perspective of the model as photog.

Uh, yeah, the skirt is too short. I am sorry, but it’s true. Difficult to imagine sitting down… But if anyone could carry it off, you can. And, yay Pheonix house, what a fantastic cause!

Sorry to hear you’re having comfort problems with the dress. Maybe you’ll appreciate the heavier material when you get back to a cooler climate. And I don’t think it’s too short. Short looks great on you! LOVE the socks!

interested to hear the dress needs some tweaking – hope you get it sorted, it would be a bummer to have an ill fitting frock for a month. LOVE the sox!

You are so right! This look is totally channeling yoko. My favorite part of this outfit has to be the two silly bands on your wrist though.

Love it. Love how I look at the pic, then scroll down the comments and find all sorts of things I missed. The heros doing the pilots are super.

I can definitely see Yoko’s wedding outfit in this. It’s the first thing that came to my mind. I love those photos of her and John. I even have a charm on my Etsy account that has one of them on it.
