Day 29

Girly Grunge

This outfit is sort of a grown up girly version of what I often wore in high school…a long skirt, long sleeved T with a short sleeved T over it. Of course back then it was usually some sort of vintage T (many of which I still own come to think of it) and more often than not the long sleeved T was striped or waffle and the skirt was floral. I like this idea of doing an upscale version of something that was worn in such a different context. I wore the dress as a skirt, holding it up with a vintage leather belt and pulling some of the bodice over the top of the belt to create a bit of a paper bag waist look. I’m also wearing a handmade cuff made by some friends I met a few years ago at a music festival we sold our designs at, their line is called Jungle Tribe…and this cuff is definitely one of the more understated pieces!

I can’t believe how quickly the month has flown by! If you haven’t had time to donate yet, go do it now! Think of all the money we’re spending on ourselves at this time of year (Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Holiday shopping, etc.) I’m sure everyone can spare a few dollars…as I mentioned the first week, even the amount we spend daily on a cup of coffee can help make a difference!

P.S We’ve got a Classic LBD Special running for the Holidays!

Oh and you do look fat and frumpy..but then judging by the comments..in the land of the blind..

Wow, what a great comment, Scrawnys. You should come out of your hole from time to time to get to know people and learn some manners.
Angie, you’re fantastic, I wish I could have donated way more but don’t have that much money as you earn. I wish you all the best and will look up your shop to see how you’re doing.

@ Scrawnys: Outfits are a question of individual taste, but courtesy is a question of behaviour.

Just donated on behalf of my daughter Noa and matched her donation because I love this site and what you all do and she does too

Well, if Scrawnys thinks it looks bad, it must be true, because we all know what a style icon Scrawnys is.

Oh, hang about. Instead of ‘style icon’ that should have said ‘bitchy, anonymous coward’. My bad.

Angie, you’ve done yourself and the dress great credit. I’ll be sorry to see you go!

Alia

This month has been awesome – I have donated! Do you have a blog or somewhere other than your Etsy store where we can keep up with your style?

Angie

Scrawnys – I’d rather be a boring, fat, frump than a “jerk” (I edit my usual sailor mouth here for the sake of the children and the eyes of all those who like their innocence) any day. Luckily I’m none of the above so I don’t have anything to worry about, including petty, small people like you!
Ashe – Thank you sooo much for donating what you can! We really do appreciate it!

Angie

And OF COURSE thank you to everyone else for your sweet and kind comments, it made it much easier to stay inspired and motivated all month…one more day to go!

I used to do Wardrobe Remix on Flickr, but have been so busy doing Norwegian Wood that it definitely fell by the wayside…maybe I’ll start something up…who knows?! 🙂

Oops! Meant to write TO Alia, but wrote as though I WAS Alia…writing after having just woken up = bad idea…

You look beautiful. The outfit is fantastic. Scrawny is perhaps having some jealousy issues? If not jealousy, than FOR SURE some self-esteem issues. We all know the saying – people make fun of others to feel better about themselves. So sad that Scrawny feels it necessary to do that.

I meant “then”, not “than”. We can’t all be as eloquent as Scrawny.

Great month! I wasn’t too much of a fan on that dress, but you did amazing things with it! Congrats!!!

Sweetheart, i just loved what you’ve done, you are so talented and level headed. Such a change from all the batty people i’ve known in fashion in NYC, for the past 50 yrs. I think you are the voice of the future, from my lips to God’s ears, as we say in the garment industry.

@Riley – if I had wanted to be bitchy I would have said ..with short fat legs like that… who needs enemies???… I didn’t! did I? 🙂

From those of us who aren’t 6 ft ‘scrawny’ supermodels its been great seeing what you can do with a normal body and still being covered up. I’ve donated too – its all about redistributing our excess so others less fortunate can have the basics, the fact that I’m getting ideas on how to use what’s in my wardrobe is just a bonus. Well done Angie.

Moo tagged this Scrawnys Sucks

O you poor pathetic Scrawnys! Looks like you’ve rock bottom in life and the only way to survive is to come to a website like this one and let off the stinky gas that fills your entire pathetic self. Ugh! Get a life you skunk of a human Srawnys. Angie, you’re a refreshing breath of crisp, cool air and I have loved most outfits. Best of luck in whatever you do next.

Scrawnys – You live in a strange sad world….I’m so glad I’m not part of it. In my world I get to eat candy and have chubby legs, read good books, have great friends, be self employed and happy with my life. And people like me anyways. If I lived in a world where people only liked me because I had skinny legs then….WAIT A SECOND! NONE OF THIS MATTERS! Let’s forget about all this and donate to Free the Children instead! Yay!

Angie…every single one of your outfits has been amazing…I am SHOCKED that someone would criticize your sense of fashion and even worse, your lovely body. Thank you for an incredible month…I’m a huge fan of your work now…especially those fringe necklaces :). Rock on girly…I’m gonna miss seeing you here!

Well said, Angie! Some vitriolic person’s attention-seeking rant is nothing. Educating children around the world (especially girls) changes the world for the better. You have used your amazing style and elegant beauty to do a great thing.

Let’s face it, Scrawnys probably looks like Comic Store Guy from The Simpsons. Or, you know, a Troll. Ah, the internet. Full of faceless saddos. How to recognise a troll? They always come back to read the reactions to their nasty comments.

That aside – look at the $$! Only $93 short of $2k! Better go shake my piggy bank, see what falls out!

My favourite outfit or better said one of my favourite outfits – great job. I see that here is one comment that is not nice, but than everybody starts a answer to that comment, why? Is it not enough to say you like the outfit/style, do you have to be as mean and unpolite as this person?
