Reverence from fifteen feet below
We finished the first day of shooting that I was telling you about yesterday. My body is unaccustomed to being submerged beneath the water for three hours and when I emerged, my skin felt gummy and rubber-like. The hot shower last night felt more than amazing and the filleted lemon branzino – more than delicious.
We’ll continue on today and then schedule one last day for some key components of – what I suppose – is becoming a PSA for the Environment. Then, a marathon editing session so that the finishing touches will be completed by May, just in time to unveil the final product to the Aspen Environment Forum and perhaps even a potent visual homage to World Environment Day on June 5th.
If I have time, I’ll give my good friend Wade a call back, as he is helping me plan for an April trip to Peru to meet some textile weavers and artisans for Source4Style.
I decided to take a sensually subtle approach to my LBD and slide it beneath the most beautifully embroidered 1940s dress, worn backwards (Traven7). The reminiscent touch of the sweetheart neckline remains, but enshrouded beneath an organdy fog. It can easily be worn with or without the finely tailored organic cotton-wool bolero by Anja Hynynen; vintage-inspired Loreto wedge by Lela Rose for Payless; and a handmade silk belt purchased at the old Studio 5-in-1, which I had frequented quite regularly back in its heyday.

The layering of black beneath the foggy white (“. . .comes in on little cat feet. . .”), the embroidery of the white dress, the white floral of the belt, the geometry of the bolero’s collar. I love the texture of today’s outfit. Picture 4 captures it.

Gorgeous! Only, I don’t find the hairstyle really adds to the outfit. You could have pulled it back in a slightly less severe style.

I totally agree with Holly…how do you have time for it all?! Also, I wonder, do you have all your outfits planned in advance for the month? Do you do your own hair every day? (the bow hair, the french twist in front? etc.?) It’s all very very impressive.

Holly is so right, you are amazing!!! It is difficult to think of just one new outfit a month, not one new one every day!!! And every one that you have put together is so inspirational!!! If there was a competition between all the pilots, you should oh so win!!! (even though there have been some amazing pilots)….

To answer your wardrobe questions: I try to take a day out of the wk to think about my wardrobe for that wk. I’m actually surprised how effortless it has been for me. Since I own almost all of the pieces you see here, I have a good sense of what will already work, but this LBD has given me a great chance to pair pieces that I would have never thought of pairing together. Totally an inspiration for me too! I’m glad it’s coming across, & my hair at times is compliments of my dear friend Chris.

And to answer your questions how I have time for my work… Well, hmm. I think quite simply my work is my life, so I just live & breathe it daily. I wish there were more time for it all. I really, really do… and I try to create & move as quickly as possible w/the hrs in the day that we all have, surround myself w/hardworking people.
I wake up inspired every morning. The LBD project has also given me a new way to feel refreshed and helps me share my story, my work through a new lens. xoxo.

The white dress is beautiful, but I’m obsessed with that jacket! This outfit has a retro vibe but its hard to place, so it makes the whole thing very unique and “you”!
