Set it off
Oh, hi! Today starts the busiest month of the season for me. I’ve talked a bit about who I am and what I do, now join me as I am engulfed by the daily frenzy of NEW YORK FASHION WEEK and Winter Market!
I’ve spent the past 5 years building my brand my own way, challenging the seasonal buying structure, trying my best to ignore the flashy lights and overall culture of the fashion industry that I am not a part of. Now, I am restructuring and playing by (some of) the rules. So here I am showing RHLS Fall/Winter 2011 at Capsule in Las Vegas and NYC for the first time; scrambling to finish samples, shoot my look book, produce our fashion show and generally enjoy the madness of it all. Today I’ll be dodging slushy puddles in the garment district in my LBD, hunting for last minute fabrics.
Ultimately, the extravagance of fashion week does not represent everyone in this city. All month long, I’ll be wearing my LBD as an example of the positive potential of fashion. My goal is to raise $5000 for City Harvest, enough to bring healthy food to one after school program for an entire year. But, breaking the cycle of hunger takes more than food. The money I raise will also assist City Harvest in providing community-specific nutritional education.
Here comes one crazy month of marathon work days! I’m looking forward to utilizing fashion week obsession and converting it into change. Wish me luck!

Remember? From Dr. Seuss’ Lorax? It can be everything you want it to be. Only this one actually saves the Truffula Trees.

Welcome Sarah. Your dress design is great. I’m eager to see what you do with it. Your actual lookbook is fun already. Is that a hot dog suit? Is the video related to your cause?

What a fun design! I love that you get a month to dress you – I don’t doubt that it will impact how you dress others. And I’m really jazzed about your mission. Ethically conscious food practices and the same for clothing make a really beautiful pair!

Welcome to UP! You have a great cause, and the dress is really interesting. At first, I wasn’t sure, but after looking at its versatility, it’s growing on me. Can’t wait to see the full spectrum this month. I LOVE when the 2 bottom panels are unzipped & the bottom is a full skirt
