I have to say it’s gonna take more than just a pretty face with good intentions to get me personally interested – India certainly sounded good on paper but looks pretty vacuous if you ask me – the idea is lacking something – not sure what, but hope it goes well…

UP is a big deal after last year. So you’re gonna get tougher criticism I know that. I feel a bit depressed and confused at the moment and I was hoping my visit here would help bring some perspective back in my life, and may even ‘inspiration’ and ‘action’. But I feel even sadder and more comatose now and I’m not sure if the sad eyes or the sharp comments. play nice everyone.

What I found exciting and captivating about UP is that it wasn’t a 17
year who looked like a model – it was a woman in her 30s from a rich
cultural background and with an even richer life experience giving free
reign to her creativity, it was sexy, it was playful, it was all
encompassing and inclusive.
This looks and sounds elitist; ageist and totally boring. It’s not
coming from a place of authenticity and it shows.

Love the mismatched shoes and the red-white-black scheme for the accessories! This is a great dress – I look forward to a lot of great combos from it!

@disappointed, don’t be so quick to judge, it’s only day one and did you read anything about her cause and the reasons why she chose it? – the fact that she is so young only makes this more impressive. How many 17 yr olds do you know that would dedicate a month of their time to a good cause? The future of our existence depends on forward thinking teenagers. She’s young, she’s hot and clearly she has a heart of gold, the only thing that anyone should be disappointed in is that they’re not her.

@ the commenters who wanted a model spread. I remember being 17 and I would not have had the guts to do this. and I know what some of the rich popular kids had to say about the fact that I had only two outfits to wear (because we were really poor) and had to accessorize my clothes by myself. The fact that India does this with wit and style shows a great deal of courage and self-assurance. And her writing about this is very honest. I’m very impressed –

I have to admit, one of the things that I loved about the first year of the UP was that she always greeted me with an ubeat smile. It made me feel good. This first day didn’t make me feel particularly excited. Also, I would love to have seen the back…

If I had half hte bravery you’re exhibiting by doing this, and I was doing it too, I probably wouldn’t smile either. However nice my smile looks in person it always ends up looking slightly terrifying in print! 🙂
