During Sheena’s year-long challenge, we made 365 limited edition copies of the little black dress. U.P friends who purchased a dress could ‘own’ a day from Sheena’s dailies, as a way to memorialize their support. The funds raised from dress sales were also put towards supporting the kids :)
Leaving you for summer

I find it sad that this project needs to be For a Cause, when it is little more than another example of an unhealthy obession with one’s own image, and its trite and rather exhausting need to be Shared. Look, no longer do you need an excuse to be a narcissist, but you must admit that narcissism, and what you call ‘sustainable’ (i.e. another obsession with ebay) fashion has little positive effect towards ‘revolutionizing education’ (what does that phrase mean?) in India, other than a sum you can blindly forward towards slum children and prevent any guilt for you or anyone who enjoys this page. You put that sum at the top of the page to divert (albeit only temporarily) what this project really is about: self-expression and self-promotion.
By all means, be inventive and try to suggest an ‘essential’ look, but this isn’t going to save the children in the way they need saving. Yes, it’s a cute pose.

@ Michael: Sheena is not a narcissist. I have known her for nearly two decades, or perhaps more. You, on the other hand, are overcritical, pessimistic, and jaded. When you have a chance in life, go take a trip to some of these community schools in what folks like you call the third world and you will see what people with big hearts like Sheena are capable of doing.

michael mate – its a simple excercise to get people talking and thinking and maybe even doing something personal to make a change. If that includes a donation, or a trip to an opshop. So be it. Here in the UK a very rich, very successful self publicist Mary Portas made a programme inviting people to shop neutral. Buying something new? Send something of value to the charity shop… No it won’t change the world – but it makes a small personal difference. It’s a start. This isn’t the forum to point jabby fingers and get huffy about how little we do. Don’t be silly and don’t be so mean. Understand the spirit – and if you can’t then perhaps you might consider that exploiting someone else’s creativity and open hearted gesture to make a jaded sociopolitical point – could also be considered narcissistic and cynical. Peace out…

Who knows what other ideas are in the works by Sheena to raise more money?
